Major currency bills are cashed easily at banks and money changers. Travelers’ cheques are best changed in banks (you will need your passport).

Visitors may take foreign currency out of Thailand, but no more than the amount stated in the customs declaration made on arrival. Travelers leaving Thailand may take out no more than 50,000 baht per person in Thai currency.

Purchases
It is illegal to take or send out of Thailand restricted and/or prohibited items e.g. illegal drugs, fake notes and coins, obscene items, pornography etc. Customs will seize any of restricted/prohibited items. If outbound passengers are convicted of any of these offences, they will be subject to a fine and imprisonment.

If you have any questions about Customs procedures, requirements, or policies regarding travelers or you have a complaint about treatment you have received from Customs inspectors or about your Customs processing, please contact the nearest Customs Offices at the departure/arrival airport.
